TV3: They know their soccer, so they do

Waffler has just seen an ad on TV3 for tomorrow night’s coverage of the Uefa Cup tie between Tottenham Hotspur and A Famagusta of Cyprus. Over the images of Robbie Keane scoring and Defoe falling, the announcer said something like:

‘Watch as Spurs take on the Cypriot side for they seek to qualify for the Uefa Cup…’

Um, right. Should you tell them or should I? The match tomorrow is a Uefa Cup First Round First Leg clash rather than the stated qualifiers. I tell ya, it’s all this talk of Ireland qualifying which has seen TV3 consider every match as a qualifier for some sort of competition. And just to emphasise the fact, the on-screen caption came up:

Tottenham Hotspur v A Famagusta
Thursday 7.30 pm
